When Life Gives You Tomatoes
I'm writing this three coffees in and listening to the absolutely frenzied sounds of Mandy, Indiana, so I'm not sure how this is going to turn out...
I can't believe how long it's taken me to sit down and gather my thoughts here. A lot has been going on. Things are very up and down with Beth's job; having quit sales she's taken a massive pay cut and is working in quite a depressing credit control job for a housing association.
It's money coming in but it's a lot to adjust to and isn't viable long term, so we're still searching and applying for jobs (I screen and shortlist jobs in the day, then she applies in the evenings). It feels never-ending.
On top of that she's working full-time in the office and there's some uncertainty about when she'll be able to work from home. With her ADHD this isn't great. I can only hope we're due some good luck soon and that she'll land a job that's a good fit because boy, I want to start enjoying 2026.
In other (better) news a lot of our seedlings have come up, including all of my tomatoes!

I've never had a 'full house' of tomatoes before, so I'm very excited. Even the Giant Delicious has graced me with its presence this year (it's never germinated before). Granted, it's looking a bit wonky, but I'll take it. We also have lots of flowers - mostly zinnias and cosmos at the moment - and other veggies like green beans and rocket that have sprouted.
I'm hoping for some sunshine this Easter weekend so that we can get outside and get some jobs done. I think getting our hands in the dirt will make us feel better too.
